Baltimore Shot Drama Starring Common Will Screen at 2012 Maryland Film Festival

LUV and 11 More Announced for Maryland Film Festival 2012!!
      

Following up on last week's first line-up announcement, Maryland Film Festival proudly announces twelve more features for MFF 2012 (May 3-6 in downtown Baltimore).

Among these titles are LUV, the Baltimore-shot drama which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2012 and boasts an all-star cast that includes Common, Charles S. Dutton, Danny Glover, and Michael Kenneth Williams and was directed by Sheldon Candis.

As with every year, the MFF 2012 full line-up will include 40+ new feature films and 75+ new shorts from around the world, as well as a vintage 3-D film, a silent film with live music by Alloy Orchestra, and a favorite film selected by legendary filmmaker and MFF board member John Waters.

All U.S.-made feature films will be presented by their filmmakers.

"We're joined by Jed Deitz, director of the Maryland Film Festival, as well as two of the filmmakers from this year's festival, for a discussion about the packed weekend of screenings coming up May 3 - 6.  

Sheldon Candis is a filmmaker whose new feature LUV will be showing at the 2012 Maryland Film Festival.  LUV's stars include Common, Danny Glover, Michael Kenneth Williams (whom you who might know as Omar from The Wire), and Charles Dutton.

The feature film in question is LUV shot in Baltimore, Maryland directed by Sheldon Candis.

Don Cheadle Uncensored Interview [AUDIO]


From March 9, 2012, Don Cheadle (pictured above) appeared on the Sirius XM satellite radio program "Geek Time" on Howard 101 one of two uncensored channels on Sirius XM, a satellite radio service that broadcasts programming affiliated with Howard Stern and The Howard Stern Show. Geek Time is hosted by Ralph Cirella and Jon Hein. (They’re the ones interviewing Don.)


Don talks about his work on the Showtime series House of Lies, but in the almost 20 minutes (19:50) he also talks about many topics including:
  • The complexity of producing television, including the television business versus the film business, scripted television versus reality television and making films outside the studio system
  • His creative process on the HBO film The Rat Pack
  • Working with Steven Soderberg and other directors
